What do Christians believe about the end times? Is the script written out for us in the Left Behind books from a few years ago? Or, is there no way of knowing so we should avoid the topic altogether?
In the scripture we’ll study this Sunday (Luke 21), Jesus says things like, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes. . . there will be signs in sun and moon and stars…”
Sounds terrifying!
Hearing those predictions and looking to local, national, and global news, some have said we live in the last days, meaning the return of Jesus is right around the corner. Others, as previously noted, don’t think about it at all.
So what are we to think about the end times?
We’ll unpack it on Sunday (Don’t miss church!), but for now, it is enough to say that Jesus did not say those things to scare the hell out of us, he said them as words of comfort to disciples in a troubled world.
Maybe we could use that comfort today, too.

See you Sunday!
