Last week I was handed the most beautiful note.  It was a thank you letter from a family who had received a gown from the Smocking Guild which meets here at Westminster.  The gown had been sewn with love and prayer for a family experiencing the heartbreaking loss of an infant.  In the Gospel of John we read affirmations that Jesus is the light and the darkness has not overcome it.  For this family and so many others the Smocking Guild has helped affirm Christ’s light in dark times.
Two weeks prior I met a young man who was looking for some counsel.  He is working hard at school and trying to get as many hours at work as he can to save for school.  He loves to learn and knows it’s on him.  While his family loves him, they can’t afford to send him to school.  When he asked about tables being set up for Souper Bowl and Backpack Buddies he smiled.  He used to get the bags each weekend when he was younger.  That was how he had food on the weekends.
What a joy it is to have ministry opportunities here at WPC throughout the week!  In addition to the Smocking Guild we have AA, Hooks and Needles (prayer shawl ministry), and many others.  Please keep these ministries in your prayers offering thanks for God’s work through them.  Also know you are invited to join and share the light with them.

With Joy and Thanksgiving,

Pastor Lissa
