“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.”
“It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.”
These are strange and tough times, aren’t they? Division and uncertainty abound on several fronts: Covid debates, political divisions, and racial tension just to name a few. It seems like a shadow is being cast over everything this year.
Yet, there is hope! Christians carry with us the light of hope that breaks into the darkness and causes the shadows to flee.
As an individual, you may not have much influence over the big picture of Covid, who is elected President, or the struggle for racial justice, but you do have a choice. You can let it all hide your light or you can put that light on a stand. You may not be able to control the big things “out there,” but you do have some control over your reaction to them.
So which will it be today? Cursing the darkness or letting that light shine?
