A few years ago a friend gave me two tiny coins. They were made more than 2000 years ago, and he said they were the same kind of coins that the poor widow of Mark 12 would have put in the offering box. Remember that story?
And Jesus sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”
I keep those coins in my study as a reminder of a faithful woman who trusted the Lord with everything she had. I pray to one day grow into that kind of trust.
This Sunday is Stewardship Dedication Sunday at Westminster, and during worship, we’ll give thanks to the Lord for all his goodness to us. I’m asking each WPC member or family to renew their commitment to the Lord and the work of the Lord through the ministry of the church. You’ll receive a commitment card in the mail, and they are also available online. Send them in or bring them with you Sunday. We’ll pray over our commitments together during worship.
I hope you’ll join us Sunday (in-person or online) and join in what God is doing at Westminster. Step out in faith and trust him. You will be thankful you did!
Yours in Christ,
